Camp Ockanickon offers two 1-week sessions and three 2-week sessions for boys ages 7-16.
Camp Ockanickon for Boys is a traditional overnight camp that provides a supportive environment for “boys to be boys” without the pressure of cliques and popularity contests often found in school and in the neighborhood. At Ocky, the counselors create an atmosphere of inclusion, where it is okay for campers to come out of their shell and be themselves. They sleep in rustic, open-air cabins and participate in activities with other campers from their age group. Each cabin houses one or two counselors and 5 - 7 campers. Each cabin group eats together in our Dining Hall where we serve our delicious meals family style. The campers share the responsibility of setting and clearing the table and for going up to get second helpings for the table. Campers follow a structured schedule that includes some activity periods that are already scheduled for their age group and some activity periods where they choose the activity themselves.
“Cullen enjoyed meeting other kids from different places. He really had the best experience a 12-year-old boy could have. He loves being in the woods, so being there for 2 weeks in the woods was like heaven for him. He is looking forward to next summer to come back.”
-Lisa (Mother of Ocky Camper)
“…the facilities were just what summer camp in the woods is all about.”
-Dana (Mother of Ocky Camper)
“The counselors are super! The professional role model logo on their t-shirt says it all. Keep up the great work. I love that my boys came home telling me that they learned about values that are the same as the values I teach at home.”
-John (Father of 2 Ocky Campers)
